He is particularly interested in how legal systems and institutions can respond to technological change without compromising accountability, fundamental rights, institutional integrity and public trust. His research examines the development of appropriate regulatory frameworks for artificial intelligence in Nigeria and across comparative jurisdictions, as well as the legal implications of data ownership, digital sovereignty and the deployment of technology in critical sectors.
Uchenna has authored research papers on the case for dedicated artificial intelligence legislation in Nigeria and the ownership and governance of upstream petroleum data, both published on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN). His other legal publications examine data protection, electronic evidence, digital markets, cybersecurity regulation and the relationship between technology and the administration of justice. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of Redo News, a publication covering law, technology, regulation and public policy in Africa.
Beyond legal research and practice, Uchenna is a legal technology builder and develops AI-assisted tools for legal research and professional practice. His work in legal technology reflects a practical interest in how intelligent systems can improve legal services, institutional efficiency and access to legal knowledge.
He contributes to AI and privacy policy research within the Nigerian legal ecosystem, including through his involvement with the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Legal Practice's Technology Law Committee. He holds an ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Lead Auditor certification and maintains a particular interest in information security, AI governance and the responsible deployment of emerging technologies.
Uchenna's broader work is concerned with the future of law and institutional governance in an increasingly digital world, particularly the development of legal and regulatory approaches that enable African institutions to adopt emerging technologies responsibly while protecting the rights and interests of the people they serve.
